We’ve been a very busy Battalion.
Every week we pose a challenge to our Battalion in the form of a poetry competition. Those who are #BornBattleReady answer this call to action with words as their weapons, showcasing not only poetic prowess, but also an ability to inspire emotional fortitude. In this month’s blog, we’ll be sharing what BattleBorn Poetry currently has in development as we forge fearlessly towards the future.
Junior Voices of Valo(U)r
Some of you may remember two years ago, when the late Move Me Poetry partnered with a school in Punjab, India for a poetry battle amongst its students. About a month ago, we were approached by Ashu (@sentientones on X), a teacher at St. Joseph’s Convent School, with a request to host this year’s competition – an honor we proudly accepted.
St. Joseph’s Convent School is an educational institution which prioritizes human excellence. Comprised of over 3,000 students affectionately known as “Josephites”, this school aims to form children who are well-integrated, compassionate, and socially conscious. Their core values include forgiveness, humility, and moral uprightness.
This month, students will be invited to participate in BattleBorn Poetry’s first ever search to find budding young poets who are willing to prove they were #BornBattleReady. Submissions will be collected by school staff, categorized by grade level, and sent to our BattleBorn Brass. 5 finalists from each grade will be selected.
After the finalists have been announced, we will post a poll on our social media platforms and invite the public to vote for their favorite. The winner from each grade will be crowned a Junior Voice of Valo(U)r and presented a certificate of achievement.
Keep an eye out for these Junior VoV contenders throughout autumn, and the subsequent polls that will follow in late November/early December. We cannot tell you how excited we are to see what words of wisdom will be relayed by the poets of our future!
Discover Our Discord
In an effort to streamline communication, we have decided to launch a Discord server catered specifically to members of our Battalion. This platform is an organized place where we can chat, share a poem a day, celebrate each other’s triumphs, support one another during tribulations, and discuss important matters regarding upcoming projects and day-to-day operations of BattleBorn Poetry.
If you are interested in joining our Battalion here, please follow this link: https://discord.gg/B6b7xUnu
This is a safe space for poets and the integrity of our Battalion will be protected at all costs. Any person in our Discord server who does not abide by the community guidelines will be removed, so please be sure to read the rules before you make your introduction.
Publication Proclamation
Curating poetry publications has always been a part of the plan for us here at BattleBorn Poetry. After gaining experience with the creation and release of our feature digital publication, “Ink & Iron: An Annual Paean of Pride” (https://www.battlebornpoetry.com/product-page/ink-iron-2024-a-battleborn-poetry-anthology),
we decided we really wanted to produce a physical publication this year as well.
The #BornBattleReady prompt was initiated last November, with a call to action for the bravest poets to pick up their pens and fight for the title of Voice of Valo(U)r. In August, those crowned VoV at least once were invited to collaborate in our upcoming poetry collection. Scheduled for a December 13th release, “Voices of Valo(U)r” is sure to inspire a spark that ignites a fire in hearts all around the world. Watch our socials for more details – including a cover reveal!
One More Thing
November 29th marks the 52nd week of brilliant poets proving they were #BornBattleReady. For BattleBorn Poetry’s one year anniversary, we want to celebrate the many faces that make up our brave Battalion. If you would like to be featured as a Wordsmith Warrior on our socials, send a photo of yourself with a short bio and a link to your work to admin@battlebornpoetry.com no later than October 31st, 2024.
This community wouldn’t be what it is without those who choose to stand beside us in battle. Everything we will ever accomplish is because of those who support what we do. Thank you for showing up.
Until next time, stay regal AF 🖤👑🤍
